Bare Escentuals Brushes

I am totally loving the Bare Escentuals mineral foundation that I received as a gift for Christmas! The coverage is amazing, and reflects light so well that it works beautifully to conceal any oily spots.

My only complaint is that (after my dog consumed my HandiBuki brush) the bristles on the brushes seem to fall off every time I use them. I find them on my face and in the bathroom sink! Today a bristle even got stuck in the foundation lid, much to my frustration.

Is it just me who is having this issue, or have others experienced this, too? Is it something to worry about or no?

I actually hate my BE brushes. Both the Kabuki and the flawless face one. The bristles are really scratchy against my skin. The only one I like is their concealer brush. There are many other better brushes out there than BE in my opinion. I am looking into ordering some Coastal Scents brushes soon.

You could try the Jane Iredale brushes which are also made for mineral foundation - the one you need for loose mineral powders is called the chisel brush. I think they are made of squirrel which I don't like the idea of but they have a good reputation!

I too have been using BE since December and absolutely love their products. Sorry to hear about your dog getting to your brush, I haven't had a problem with their brushes so far. FYI, Ulta carries BE, about the same amount of product that Sephora carries.

The sephora brand kabuki brush is really good and very soft & thick, FYI.

Thank you for all of your comments! Now I realize I'm not the only one with this issue that's driving me insane. I might have to make a Sephora trip to look into some alternate brushes. I's not like I actually need an excuse to visit Sephora ;) Thanks again ladies!

i really don't like the BE brushes much at all. they feel scratchy on my face, and they often leave little bristles behind on my face so i have to make sure to do a thorough check. i don't wanna be walking around with that on my face! the only BE brush i use anymore is the kabuki brush. i find the whole BE experience to be quite messy actually - bristles all over the place, and the powder gets everywhere. i'll still continue to use it b/c i like it for just every day wear that won't hurt my skin, but i'm definitely not their biggest fan.

I am sorry your dog got to it. Buy new brushes. :) My BE brushes are still working fine, I am only using the face brush for blusher, and I don't really use the concealer brush (too big as a concealer brush for me) and I don't use the Kabuki either (the bristles feels too prickly against my face).

I actually really like my BE brushes. One thing I learned is that you have to wash them head down so that the water/shampoo doesn't get to the glue underneath which holds the bristles in. As far as oily goes, maybe try a primer (not theirs, ick!). Also, the brushes need to be washed about once a week, keeping you from getting nasty oils and dust, etc from using them. Just my thoughts.

I have the same problems with the BE brushes they shed quite a bit..anyone recommend anything better to use with their foundation? LOL my dog also loves to go for my brushes! she comes up to me while I'm applying this and tries to lick my buki brush

I haven't had this problem any more than with my other brushes. If it's just the buki brush, it could just be a bad one. I'm pretty rough on powder brushes, so they all tend to shed a little with me.

Mine aren't falling out so much, but they feel a kinda scratchy to me. I use a Bobbi Brown kabuki instead and love it. It's really soft.

I have a few fall out but nothing extreme... Could be a bad brush or maybe we all think differently LOL!

I don't like the BE brushes at all for this reason. I buy Sephora brand.

I have a couple of bristles fall out now and then but it's not happening all the time. __ “Fashion fades, only style remains the same.” —Coco Chanel

I am sorry to be laughing, the dog got to it. How cute is that. I never had a problem with the brushes; however, do you get oily when you use BE. I went to the BE shop and had them apply a full face (which I loved) but after 2 hours I was like frying chicken oily. Maybe it was just a bad day, I so want to buy but a little nervous.

I have had the exact same problem. It was worse when I first got my Buki brush but after the first time I washed it, it seemed to improve. I still have some that stay on my face or land on the sink. I don't know if that is how they all are or not, but atleast I know now that mine isnt the only one that does it.
