Bring a New Mom...Dinner

I don't have any kids but a good friend of mine recently had her second cutie. I have a hard time resisting buying a cute outfit for the newborn but I know usually the new mom will already have enough clothes and babies grow out of everything so quickly. So rather than buying clothes, I made a delicious re-heatable dinner of chili verde with tortillas, avocados, sour cream, limes and cilantro. Of course, I couldn't resist the onesie that said "full of cuteness."

My thoughts, families need more time with their new addition, so at least one night, dinner is already ready! Did your friends bring you dinner when you had a new baby?

When my best friend had her baby, my husband and I cooked several meals for her. Delicious, home-made meals that were freezable. She ended up bursting into tears because she said this was more meaningful and helpful than buying her things.

I'm glad we got more baby stuff than food! I guess it's usually a great idea, especially for second time moms, but with our budget being so tight I was thankful for every onsie we got. Our baby was not stressful at all, so I had lots of time for cooking when we got home.

I love this idea. Wish someone brought us meals! We got lots and lots of baby clothes.
This is something that regularily happens in my neighbourhood. When someone's having a baby that's not their first, and especially if it's the same gender as one of their previous children, most of us will make a fresh/frozen meal for the family. Generally we try to have about 1-2 weeks worth of meals taken care of for the family, and we do school pick ups/drop offs for them as well so mom can try to take it easy.

Yum!!! Gosh, I hope my friends are as thoughtful as you are. I can imagine wanting nothing more than a delicious, already prepared meal in the first couple months after our baby arrives. Great idea. :)
