Greek Yogurt with Red Wine-Infused Dates, Toasted Walnuts & Honey

Bruschetta is quickly becoming one of our favorite snacks on a cold day. The oven warms up the house and the bruschetta is just so tasty. Super easy, too.

I'm working on perfecting the recipe, and I'm liking it so far but would love any suggestions for adds. The original recipe is here. I know the fresh herbs add more flavor and color, but I started making bruschetta to get rid of tomatoes before they went bad and didn't have any fresh herbs on hand.


2 large tomatos, diced
1/2 yellow onion, diced
2 Tbs olive oil
1 tsp dried oregano
1/2 tsp dried cilantro
1 tsp dried parsley
2 cloves garlic, minced
Nature's Seasonings to taste
pepper to taste
1 baguette, cut on the bias

Combine all the ingredients in a bowl. Spoon onto sliced bread. Place on cookie sheet. Bake at 400 (I just noticed the recipe says 400, ha ha I didn't read past the ingredients in the recipe until I started typing. I've been doing 350 and that toasts the bread just fine.) for 8 to 10 minutes.

P.S. Do you say bruSHetta or bruSKetta? BIL has us saying bruSKetta, and I'm just curious.

Thanks, Jamers. Yah either that or you could take a big ol chunk of salami and dice it. Oh, ha ha I just got all confused. Sica and Yayi - you two look like twins today! :D

It's bruchetta., at least that's what my husband says., he's Italian. Jenn., I guess with salami of any type you'de have to either 'chunk it' or roll it tight to make it stick on that lil bread., and speaking of the 'boondocks'....ha, there's plenty of that in the south. Most people on here aren't in to country music but one of my fav. country songs goes.....'one thing I know's no matter where I go, I leave my heart and soul, in the boondocks....' which reminds do I enter that sing your heart out for popsugar thing??? I would love to do that, I guess I would need a microphone for my computer?...

Mmmmmm that sounds yummy SC!! We do this as an afternoon snack. Well, lunch for me and snack for hubs. Ha ha ha. Oooh, Jamers, that sounds yummy. I've never seen salami on Bruschetta but, I bet that would be good. Thanks, SC. BIL is from the Italian part of Switzerland and he says BruSKetta, so I figured that was right. People always look at me funny, though. LOL That's the boondocks for ya.

good idea sweet c or put it on that 'flatbread' and roll it up! yummy! maybe throw in some genoa or hard salami sliced real thin..........ooh thanks for the idea jenn!!!

My husband will LOVE this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You might want to try fresh cilantro and parsley, or maybe just fresh cilantro! I think it's spelled bruchetta! , not sure....I can't wait to try this!
