Whether you love them or hate them, capes and capelets (short layered capes) are a timeless fall fashion piece. Or perhaps you love or hate one or the other...you decide!
Etiquette books from the 1890's suggested that all proper ladies should have at least 2-3 evening wraps. A multitude of fabrics were used and most capes/capelets were ornately decorated with patterns, flowers and lace. These seasonal items were highly treasured by the ladies of the 19th century as they were most definitely a statement of high society fashion.
