I HATE GINGER AND GARLIC FROM THE JAR! Jen, just slice open the ginger and grate it. It's yummy that way and a lot easier!! I always mince my own garlic, but Idefinitely have the hand smell after :puke:
Once I started using the already peeled and sealed garlic from Trader Joe's, I ditched my jar garlic. :)
My secret would be...a little company called cugino's. They are based in Illinois. I use their italian marinade on everything.
I use minced garlic from a jar! I'm always trying to skip a step somewhere...
While I do make a lot of stuff from scratch, I use frozen pie dough for my famous chicken pot pie...and it's fantastic.
Ha, I use minced garlic from a jar a lot too.
But I am a cake flop. Everywhere I got they want me to bring cake or sweets and I use box mix because every cake I've made from scratch has been a flop. I'm just really good at making box mixes seem not boxed.
As for food hates, I hate condiments, I hate strawberries, and I hate cooked apples but make a great apple pie.
Crazy!
to be honest - I have the baking mix ready and just add eggs and butter to the pastry
but not all can be as GREAT as my dad for his first apprenticeship was baker and pastry chef... So I think I have a problem here - :ROTFL:
And BTW: if you do not like garlic fingers: there are these special "steel soaps" then all is gone... SMILE - also milk helps a lot to neutralize or basil or peppermint or parsley...
I can't think of one, but my mom has been famous for her potato salad forever. A few years ago I asked for the recipe (she never gave out the recipe--a family secret, she said) and she said "just go pick some up from ____ Deli (a local deli) and put it in a nice bowl. She's never actually made her own. :oy:
I have been known to use store bought frosting in a tub :-x I know it's gross. Every time I make homemake frosting it gets rave reviews but I just run out of time.
Oh, and I use jar garlic too.
Great idea. I guess mine would be just leaving out little things if I don't have the ingredient or substituting and hoping it works. Most of the time it doesn't!
don't be ashamed. i used minced garlic from a jar too. and i rarely use ginger but if i do i have the ginger spice.
my confession (other than the above one) is that many times i am way too impatient to wait for the oven to preheat. after about two minutes i am all, 'eff it this potato is going in!'. :rotfl:
That's an adorable picture! :D
My cooking confession - that would get me boxed about the ears by Anthony Bourdain - is that I use minced garlic and ginger from a jar. I know! It's horrible! But, I HATE how garlic gets my fingers all sticky and how ginger is such a pain to peel!
