Easy Slow Cooker BBQ Ribs
Yesterday, my husband and I spent the day at home, recovering from a late Sunday night wedding that lasted until the wee hours of the day.
Much fun. Tiring, but fun.
So I finally decided to try something that had been in the back of my mind for a little while, but I'd simply never gotten around to doing - slow cooked ribs.
And I must say - pretty darn tasty. I've never made ribs before, but I know they can be quite a bit of work! While the meat didn't exactly fall off the bone, it was tender and succulent and I'd definitely do it again!
But, ribs require just a tiny bit of work in order to make them slow cooker ready. However, it was definitely worth it and only added another 20 minutes or so onto the preparation.

Slow Cooker BBQ Ribs
First off, though, I should add that I didn't use a traditional BBQ sauce on my ribs. My husband loves this stuff called Ah-So sauce, which, as far as I've been able to tell, is only available in New England. At least in stores. So everytime we hike up to Massachussetts to visit his folks, we buy some Ah-So Chinese BBQ sauce.

But I think these ribs would be simply AWESOME in BBQ sauce as well! I highly recommend Jack Daniel's sauces...
Ingredients
3 - 4 lbs of spareribs
1 bottle BBQ sauce
Salt and pepper to taste
Directions
1. This is the step that takes a little extra time, but it's worth it! Broil the ribs about six inches under high heat for 5 - 10 minutes. Turn and repeat on other side of ribs. This step helps to brown the meat and to drain some of the fat.
2. Spray the slow cooker with Pam or use a crockpot liner.
3. Place the ribs in the slow cooker. You will probably need to cut them up into sections to fit them.
4. Add in bottle of BBQ sauce. If you had to layer the ribs, make sure there's plenty of sauce between the layers.
5. Cover and cook on Low for 7 - 9 hours.
Variations
1. Once again, no meal of mine would be complete without two things: Garlic and Onion. I added some minced garlic and some chopped onion and YUM!
