How are your New Year's resolutions coming along? You've had over a week to live with them, and here's your chance to reassess your health and fitness goals for the new year with the Get Fit For 2010 community challenge. Since sticking to resolutions — running a marathon, losing your baby weight, or eating a more balanced diet — can be rough, we have not only started a community group for support but also created a contest so you can win prizes while working toward becoming a healthier you. For the next 12 weeks, we will be posting a challenge on FitSugar every Monday, and by meeting the challenge you will be automatically entered for a chance to win the weekly prize — a $100 Nike gift card.

This week's challenge: Write a blog post stating your fitness and health goals for the year in the Get Fit For 2010 group. I'd love to see a "before" image to go with your blog post too.

I am participating (one of my goals is to run a half marathon), and my pal LilSugar is joining the community too — she'll be video blogging her progress every Tuesday. As a desk jockey by day and master of the remote by night, about the only real exercise I get outside of hunting season is chasing the kids around the soccer field (yup – I’m the coach) and tossing dummies to the dog (now there’s a good workout – for the dog). My gut is busting out a bit more each year and my back hurts all the time – too many car accidents and not enough core strength training… and maybe a few too many carbs. Anyway, in anticipation of my “New Year’s Resolution Time”, I decided to “tone up a bit” and so I got a physical, I started doing push-ups and I’m exploring different exercise products on the market to help me strengthen my back, tighten my gut, maybe find some love handle workouts and basically “cow-boy up” a bit. That's when I discovered the truth about... Have a good one – I need to take the dog for a walk now – I’m in training you know.

I am losing weight. I have lost 11 1/2 pounds this spring and need to lose 28 1/2 more through diet, exercise and drinking more water! Fingers crossed!

I'm loving the stretching idea, it will be a great way to regain a lot of that flexibility I've lost throughout the years, and lengthen my muscles so the look less solid, but long instead.

MY goal for this upcoming year is too firm up. I'm not necessarily concerned about my weight (5'10" & 150lbs) but about a few problem areas that I am not happy with. I am trying to work out daily, eat better, and be more conscious regarding my health as a whole.
