I know that the answer of 4.5 trips per year is based on the average...but how can a person take .5 of a trip? I dont think decimals should have been included on that one, it makes no sense...

I know from my own travels that kids can travel internationally in laps...and that any seat is okay for a child in a car seat. All agreed with anonymous above. I have done this half a dozen times.

FYI, you can have a lap child on international flights. We've done it with our daughter to Europe and to Asia. The airline will typically charge you an administrative charge of around $100. TSA may not put you and your child in separate lines or such, but they will make your child, if old enough walk through security by themself and in the event you or your child need further screening, they will the person not being screened further to step aside. All from experience.
