Looking forward to seeing great stuff from this group! New to SS and love it so far. I'm 24 but always get told I look around 16. I hope that by updating my look people won't think I'm a teenager anymore.
Well... It seems like I may be the only person here who is "no longer in their 20's"...Even tho I don't act it or feel it most times...(except for some major back probs).... but I LUV FASHION.... my only major rule of "growing up" has been that I don't wear anything low cut or short at the same time... See, I'm 6'2"...so short skirts/dresses on me are super short.... so I make sure that I wear full coverage tops... Oh who knows... I definitely don't want to dress like a granny, and I don't want to dress like Paris Hilton... so somewhere in the middle is fine with me...
So.... is anyone actually in this group... it doesn't look like anyone ever posts in here... just wondering....
oh, this hits the nail on the head in so many levels!!! i'm 28, look 22, act like a teenager but have a corporate job which demands turning up well turned out. weekends i'm halfway between avril lavigne and siouxie sioux, meeting my workmates makes me feel really out of place. i'm in style limbo, girls!!! e-p-d x
A bright bag or shoes is the perfect way to bring a trend into your look without looking like something from a teen magazine..... as long as your not going top to toe in a young trend you are no way to old to carry this pink bag off.
Hi, I'm 28, and get told I look 19, which I take as a compliment. But, I'm a mother of 2, and a stay at home mom. I LOVE fashion and shopping, but am on a small budget, and usually don't have anywhere fancy to go. I don't live in New York or L.A. either. So, my style is all about dressing to look and feel good, feeling glamorous without spending too much money, and being myself while keeping up with the trends as much as I can . . .
Hi, I'm kinda new to this whole thing. I just bought an instyle magazine because Beyonce was on the cover, and I also love to shop. I love fashion but I'm not Beyonce and therefore, cannot shop like I make her kind of money. I'm in the military and my husband and I are working on our second child. I often get great comments on how I dress, but I'd like to dress a little more mature (I look about 22, but I'm really 27). I can definitely "get away with" the clothes I wear, but I know I can't dress this way forever, so I'm looking to invest in some real chic clothes. I live in Japan right now and fashion is big out here...I feel like I am falling behind and trying to catch up at the same time. I hope by looking through some of these groups I can get some ideas of what to put together and hopefully not spend all of my paycheck trying to do so.
Im 31 but look a little younger, Im petite so I think that has something to do with my size.
The worst thing about being a mum is that I have loads of runaround clothes, but recently I joined a board for art, god had nothing to wear. I have little money, so I have to make the most of really sensible pieces... but also like to be sexy now and then as well as practical (especially for trips to remote regions).
Its a hard balance to get, but I really feel Im starting to hit the nail on the head! I dont feel old, but I definately cant get around in teen gear anymore.
definately awkward at times....great idea for a group!
This is a good group, i'm 23 and married. I immediately started feeling like i need to dress more maturely, in a sophisticated youthful way, not in a matronly way, but it seems easier said than done.
Emanuelle,
You're definitely in the right place. I started this group and like you, I am in my 20's, married, with kids. I haven't been posting lately, but my focus is always on our age group. I'll start posting again more over the next few weeks. Feel free to check out my website at www.kidsstuffworld.com for some other ideas for folks like us.
Stace :)
I'm starting to think I shouldn't be in this group... the name is "I'm not 20 anymore" but reading other people comments it feel like it should be "I'm not in my 20's anymore". well I'm not 20 but still in my 20's. I'm 26 years old but feel older inside. I'm married and my son just turned 1 last week. plus all my friends r in their 30's and my husband's friends (who is 36 years old) r in their 30's-40's. I'm not a 20 year old girl studying, partying and trying 2 find her place in life. I'm already there. I'm a woman. and my style is that of a woman. so you tell me.. do I still belong in this group? feel like I'm falling in the cracks.
I love the idea of this group! I can't wait to explore the ideas here. My problem is that I'm schizophrenic about my style - I love so many looks! So I would like to have a consistent identifying trait. My style is really disconnected and I don't like that. Help! =)
I'm 35-year-old and look like 27 or 28 as what my fds said, which is not bad even though I want to look more younger. I don't know why before turning to 30, I was a fan of pink color. Recently, I have seen a cute pink juicy couture bag and want to have one, but a question immediately came to my mind "Am I too old to use pink items?"
I need help deciding on MY STYLE. I am confused as to how to dress. I don't like a lot of the stuff out there right now to choose from. I don't have much to spend anyway, but I need a direction to get started in. I am in my late 20's and don't like what is in my closet anymore. What would be the basic classic things that I need? What should I splurge on? What should I get on the cheap?
I may well be the oldest one to comment here- I hit the big 50. My body isn't bad for my age but things are starting to drop.I can't wear the higher heels or tight fitting, short sleeve tops anymore. Another get site that has made a huge difference for me is FashionScience. The consultant, Anthea Tolomei has been in the business professionally for many years working with girls like us. She has commented on my outfits and created ones for me that I love. Check her out on shopstyle
I am 45 ladies and don't want to dress "old".I want to look nice like the younger gals, but I don't want to dress young.I don't want to appear frumpy and show my age.
Shopstyle is something I just stumbled across a few days ago, and I'm in love. I'm 38 years old, and I don't want to dress like the typical "soccer mom", but I also don't want to embarrass my teenage son. This group will definitely be inspiring and fun!
I'm in the 30's too and I find that many people still think I am quite younger. I don't like to be mistaken for a teenager, but I find that mixing some of the latest fashions with something timeless keeps things fresh looking and not at all matronly.
I just joined Shopstyle a few hours ago and definitely this is one group I'll be visiting... and re-visiting. What's appropriate, sexy and flattering for this 38 year-old woman? I need to figure that out in the weeks and months to come!
