I'm so nervous...

I'm turning into such a worrying, paranoid mom. Jake has his first field trip today (going to see a Stuart Little play at the local college - about 45 mins away). This is his first time to ride the school bus (and it's pouring rain), and it's his first time away from us without either being with our parents or in a school environment that he doesn't leave. I volunteered to help out when the letters were sent out, but they already had enough volunteers. I'm not liking field trip day nearly as much as he is! lol I'm going to be a nervous wreck until 3 when I pick him up from school. He's not old enough for this stuff yet. :/

i'm with you. i like it when my girls stay at school and i know exactly where they are. my 8 year old went on a field trip with a parent student ratio of 1:2 about 2 weeks ago and i was still not totally "okay".

Oh, my bad. I see the trip went fine. I should probably read the comments first before I comment!

I'll be nervous, too, the first time my son goes somewhere without me or my husband. But, he'll be ok. It sounds like they have plenty of chaperones to watch over them. How old is your son?

I may have you beat on the "Worry-wart" mom thing. I started thinking the other day that Dakota (my almost 3 y/o) has one more year before Pre-K. I'm not ready for that!! I'm also worried about what to do when I go into labor with new baby. We have NO family down here. He likes our friends but he won't stay with ANYONE but me. Not even hubby/daddy.

i completely understand how you feel wynter. i was a nervous wreck the first time my boys started riding the bus afterschool to the babysitter's. for at least two months i would call her to make sure they made it there okay. i remember telling her i was so nervous for them to walk there from where the bus dropped them off to her house because they had to cross a street and everything. she looked at me like i was nuts and i was being a worrywart and i looked at her like how could i NOT be worried. :?

It did go well. He had a great time. They saw the play, went to McDonald's to eat happy meals and play there a bit, and then they came back to school and Mother Goose came into the classroom to tell them a story (a nice older lady around here that dresses up as mother goose and reads stories in the town library every week). He wants to ride the school bus every day now, and he's also ready for another field trip. :)

I hope everything went well- a new stage of growing up! I can't imagine, it must be really hard!

I pick Jake up in 10 more minutes. I'm sure he'll come home with all kinds of exciting things to tell me. He'll probably talk about the school bus all night though. He's been wanting to ride it since he was a tiny little guy, and the school is literally right across the street so we live WAY too close for it to pick him up/drop him off. :)

Awww wynter, *BIG HUG* He'll be fine. Sit down and watch Nemo. :) ------------------------------------------------------ "What's got two thumbs and hates Todd Packer, This Guy! Jim Halpert

They already had enough volunteers, yaya... I'm sure they're back by now anyway - school is out in a hour & a half.

LOL Karma. Brandon likes Stuart Little too, so I'd have a perfectly good excuse for it. ;)

Awwww, he is growing up. I know it's got to be extremely hard for you (and any mother for that fact). It's totally normal to worry, sweetie. But, he will be just fine, and he'll be super excited to tell you about the play. Just take deep breaths when, you start to worry & think about how excited and happy he'll be to see you (and how happy you'll be, too).

You and me both.. I am a worrier. Its normal. Or thats what I try to convince myself. I am actually proud of you Wynter cause I am so bad I don't even trust my in laws to watch the boys (only my parents because I know how strict and super careful they are vs the in laws who let them play with pill bottles and play at her feet while she cooks shit in a giant pot of boiling oil..LORD help me!!! They are coming this weekend and I am already having panick attacks)or my husband to take them out on his own to the park. Seriously. Your little guy will be fine and think how excited he will be to tell you about his field trip!!!

I'd be tempted to Lisa, but Brandon has a doctor's appointment in a couple of hours. It'd take 1.5 hours just to get there and back. Poor Bran has needed his nebulizer the last few evenings because his allergies have been so bad (his wheezing is terrible), and I just want to make sure it's allergies and not a cold. Besides, he's out of Singular and his refills are out so we need a new prescription anyway. I'm sure Jake will be okay. It's just his first time away from me without someone I completely trust (or even know). I trust his teachers, but there will be over 250 kids total (K-2) going there today from the school. Lots of young kids to keep up with! This is his first time away from me where I can't just pick up a phone and check on him. I guess it's just a part of him growing up on me.

I understand how you feel. Maybe you can follow the bus in your car. Oh wait I just paid closer attention and realize he has already left. Call the college and just check to see if the bus arrived without any problems. Maybe you can drive there and follow the bus back.

I'd suggest maybe getting a special ice cream at McDonalds and letting him tell you all about it. Don't worry. He will be fine!
