Kinesio Tape: Am I doing it wrong?

So I run a lot, and I have paleo-femoral syndrome on my right knee. I usually run in a giant, uncomfortable, bulky knee brace, but recently at the running store I saw Kineso tape being advertised for knee pain.

So I bought the tape, I read the instructions, and I watched a ton of youtube videos on how to apply it, but it doesn't seem to do much except peel off around mile 5-6. Am I doing it wrong? Have other people used Kineso tape for knee issues and running? Is it just another fad that doesn't really do anything?
