My Mom's bday party food spread! Very tropical :P
My mom's bday party at our office 'house', it's a typical Filipino spread...so that basically means a lot of food.
Lol, for some reason it felt like i was eating 'island' food.
And this is only one side of the buffet spread! From blue crabs to bbq pork skewers..ugh I'm afraid of weighing myself after this!
Lol can you tell we're Texans by our Texas shaped clock?
Mongo stew, Pork skewers, banana leaf wrapped rice, salsa
There's pancit (stir fried vermicelli w/ veggies), fried rice and 'filipino' meat spaghetti on the other side.
Grilled fish, crawfish..um...sauteed green leaves? with shrimp paste...sliced green mango..eggplant caviar salad..bday cake with buttercream icing, bbqed chicken
We basically had a huge bbq and crawfish boil in the backyard with several picnic tables set up and covered in plastic table cloth and with grilled corn and everything!
Puto (steamed rice cake) with cheese, Leche Flan, Fruit salad, Frozen Brazo de Mercedes, Chocolate sticky rice, Maja Mais (corn pudding), various fruits
I made the frozen brazo de mercedes, it's the one that looks like square marshmallows in the tray. it's actually a layer of graham crackers, vanilla bean ice cream, a eggyolk/condensed milk custard, and a sheet of meringue. Sadly all the layers 'melted' together while it was sitting out, it's best when the layers are frozen.
Sago and gulaman (tapioca pearls with caramel sugar and banana extract drink)
My bf actually didn't like this (said it tasted like some sort of chinese medicine drink he had when he was little), I liked it but all the tapioca and jello in it made me so full.
