New Babies & Family Names

My cousin just had twins (yay!) this past Sunday and had made us all wait to find out the names. However, when they were finally revealed, I have to say that I wasn't the least bit surprised. My cousin had trouble getting pregnant so their dogs (Ty, Penny, and Bailey) more or less became their children. Well, Bailey passed away a few months ago from cancer so when it came time to name the twins, Bailey got an honorable mention. As did Ty.

Meet:

Morgan Bailey (As named by her mother)Morgan Bailey (As named by her mother)

and...

Ryan Tyler (As named by his father)Ryan Tyler (As named by his father)

It's a little bit unusual, even if the names are fairly traditional.

Did you name your children after someone (even a pet!) that you know/knew? Would you?

:rotfl: that is too cute! Noah calls me & Nate "BekaNate", I don't think he even realizes we are seperate. We are BekaNate to him, LOL!

We got less snow than normal and more cold. Ugh. LOL, I get on the little kids' 'teams' a lot too! :) Or they fight over who sits by them to eat. :rotfl: __ “Fashion fades, only style remains the same.” —Coco Chanel

awww that is cute! :-) You must be her fav! I know this is the most snow we have gotten in years, I don't think it has been that cold though.

We had the noisy house too! We don't let the kids outside before lunch/egg hunt because otherwise they cheat miserably. We'd rather let them cheat as much as they can from inside the house. :) And drive us all crazy with the noise. Who knew that 3 kids could make that much racket? :OY: But I was on my little cousin Amelia's "team" as she put it. Isn't that cute? Has it really been one of the coldest winters ever? Geez. It's about 50 here now, but the problem lately has been the wind. It's been vicious and bitterly cold!

After one of the top 40 coldest winters in Minnesota, I'll take the upper 40's or 50's at this point! Brrrrrr. It's cold and windy today. I'm just so ready for warmer spring weather. My boyfriend's nieces and nephews didn't get to do the hunt outside either. We got well over 6 inches of snow through the weekend. That made for a noisy house all day yesterday! :P __ “Fashion fades, only style remains the same.” —Coco Chanel

Yeah, it honestly wasn't much warmer around here, but it wasn't like you NEEDED to wear a jacket outside. So that was great. Decent weather for Easter Egg hunting. One year we had to have it indoors and one of my cousins sobbed. She hated the deviation from tradition. I want it to be 70's!
kiwitwist kiwitwist 6 years 25 weeks
That would be a disappointment, I cannot blame them. It was nice out in the sense that there was sun, but only about 40 degrees. BLAH I cannot wait for 60s, outside walking around! WOOT

Yesterday was absolutely gorgeous here. Perfect Easter Day. What about yours? My in-laws want to come down for the Cherry Blossom Festival one year, but they're afraid that they'll book it, come down, and the blossoms won't be out. What a disappointment.
kiwitwist kiwitwist 6 years 25 weeks
awww that would be gorgeous! They would almost have to wait until May for the cherry blossoms. Oh well. It is only 38here. YUCK! I would love to be in your area.
ALSW ALSW 6 years 25 weeks
I swear that there's only been like 2 times in the past twenty years when the cherry blossoms are actually blooming during the festival - but it's gorgeous!

New shoes would be great - and flirty spring skirts and short sleeves! I went to Kohl's this weekend to check out what's in store for Spring and I was shocked! I didn't like almost anything that they had in there! Sigh. What a waste. I don't know what it was that I didn't like exactly, but nothing really jumped out and screamed BUY ME! I'm hoping to get to the cherry blossom festival this year, but it depends on weather and whether or not we feel like it. No snow here, but it's about 50 at the highest. :OY: Lacrosse is cool but I rarely see any games on tv. One of these games I should go to a game or something. I'd love to go to a hockey game too, but I just never think of that!

Cherry Blossom festival sounds awesome and beautiful if the cherry trees are actually blossoming!! WOOT
kiwitwist kiwitwist 6 years 25 weeks
It snowed Friday night here, 6inches. :oy: So, tired of it already!!!!

I like lacrosse too, it's sort of like hockey without skates! I don't mind watching Nascar crash highlights on ESPN but that's the extent of it. It's just so boring to me, cars driving around in circles for hours. LOL The cherry blossom festival sounds lovely! It's cold here too. It snowed on Friday and Saturday. :( I am SO ready to wear peep-toes. __ “Fashion fades, only style remains the same.” —Coco Chanel

I have to admit that I'm one of those horrible people that likes the crashes on Nascar. :) I just really don't get it otherwise though. See, Minnesota makes me think hockey and snow and that sort of thing. DC makes me think lacrosse and ice and monuments. :) And the cherry blossom festival! Which should be either now or soon but I think it's just a tad bit cold for it...

In Minnesota it's pretty popular. Even the state hockey tournaments have a huge turnout and the Wild have sold out every game since they came into the league. College hockey is pretty big here too. Nascar is so redneck. I have a few friends that are into it. Eeeew! LOL __ “Fashion fades, only style remains the same.” —Coco Chanel

I seriously can't name a single person who's into hockey around here. Even my husband doesn't and he's pretty much a die-hard sports fan. But he follows the Bruins occasionally. Maybe people around here keep the hockey loving on the down low. :) I think it must be a region specific sport or something.
ALSW ALSW 6 years 25 weeks
I had Georgetown vs. Pitt as the final game and they've both lost! Curses! :) I saw a couple games during the Championship weekend and I've heard a few analyses on ESPN so I figured I would do okay, if not just a little better. WRONG! Nascar is so redneck. But welcome to my family. Sad.
glam-sugar glam-sugar 6 years 25 weeks
I can't believe people in DC aren't into hockey. :? The Capitals are pretty good and have one of the most exciting young players, Alexander Ovechkin. __ “Fashion fades, only style remains the same.” —Coco Chanel

oh Yikes!!! I have UCLA winning. I pick them every year. I don't have a clue about the bracket, so really it is just whatever name I like LOL!!!! Nascar is redneck, LOL!!!!!
ALSW ALSW 6 years 25 weeks
I have family that enjoy Nascar and I have to say that I will never understand that particular obsession. I just plain don't get why it's exciting to watch a bunch of cars go around in lots of circles. Just seems so redneck to me. :OY: Like I can talk! But then some people don't like baseball, so I take my own opinion with a grain of salt. :) I had Georgetown winning the whole thign!
kiwitwist kiwitwist 6 years 25 weeks
I know! I had Georgetown on my bracket!!! In Delaware (where Nate is from) they live for Nascar and that is it, LOL!!
ALSW ALSW 6 years 25 weeks
Usually I get a little thing in the mail for a pre-sale. But we moved! So I didn't get it! And even with the pre-sale thing I have to log on the minute that I can. Argh. So I think we're going to try and explore some new ballparks this year. Or save the money and go to minor league games. I have a friend in Canada who's a huge Maple Leafs fan. Here in DC nobody actually cares about hockey, I swear. And we're all still reeling from Georgetown losing to stupid Davidson. :(
kiwitwist kiwitwist 6 years 25 weeks
Well around here, we have the die-hard Canadians that go with Toronto and then we have the locals that are die-hard Detroiters..... So, it is a 50/50 split. I am a Detroiter all the way WOOT WOOT! yeah that would make me mad too. You almost have to buy tickets years in advance, if that is even possible.
