Do You Exercise With a Dog?

Actress Amanda Seyfried was beaming during a hike with her dog Finn and an unidentified female friend. The trio hiked a trail in Los Feliz's Griffith Park, which is known for its spectacular views of Los Angeles that include the famed "Hollywood" sign.

Exercising with a dog is a great way to get in shape — especially since they'll bug you to take them on their daily walk! A study even showed that dog owners walk almost double the amount of people who don't own dogs. If you don't want to commit to owning a dog, you can also volunteer to walk dogs at your local animal shelter. Tell me . . .

I'll take my boys on long walks but I run distance and I don't think these two little guys would appreciate a 2 mile run!

I walk my chihuahua at a park, but I don't really exercise with her. I wouldn't want to trip over here while running!! lol.

Definitely walk with my dog, River, at least once a day. We actually live along a river so he gets to swim at the end of it, so spoiled.

I take her on walks and hikes but not running. Unfortunately, she starts out great but by the end I'm practically dragging her along. Poor doggie!

My dog used to run with me when she was younger. Now, she is only able to run for about a block before she just gets way too tired. I do take her for a daily walk around the block, but I have to watch to make sure she isn't getting too tired out or anything.

Yes. I don't run with my dogs because they are small and I think it might be too much for them, but my husband and I do take them hiking.

I credit my dog - who I adopted last summer - with my 80 pound weight loss... Bottom line: I'm not going to walk myself around the block, and it's easy to talk a friend out of going for a walk on a drizzly gray day, but my dog is always ready to go - and when I get home from work, off we go for a stroll through the park down the street. Incidentally, since I adopted her I also stopped snacking mindlessly --- she's a small dachshund hybrid who loves food, so she's right there when a bag opens in the kitchen, so it's impossible to not realize I'm eating something, which makes me snack less, and remember that I've eaten when I do!

How about the option: currently don't have a dog, but can't wait to get one so we could walk/exercise together. Cats on harnesses are just not the same as walking a dog. lol.
I take my dog hiking all the time! I just bought this new collar from Dublin Dog Co. that is great because its made for outdoor dogs and its guaranteed not to get stinky!
every morning at 615am he wakes me up for his romp, it's like he needs to check out that his neighborhood got thru the night okay; I love it
Yup! My dog never complains that it's too hot, cold or she's too tired. She's always ready to go and go and keep going...

I love hiking with my dog! I don't really have anyone else to hike with so it's nice to have her around - I feel a bit safer and plus she never whines and complains!
