Pool Danger...Dry Drowning Please Read

The tragic death of a South Carolina 10-year-old more than an hour after he had gone swimming has focused a spotlight on the little-known phenomenon called “dry drowning” — and warning signs that every parent should be aware of.

This is taken from an MSN article. Please read attached. This is very scary, I've never even heard of this before.

Lilsugar just posted this link today where a doctor actually gives his opinion and tells us what 'dry-drowning' typically is implying. I know this freaked me out when I read it originally a few weeks ago. Apparently, 'dry-drowning' happens most often after a near-drowning in the water and the child obviously takes in a lot of water. This causes trauma to the lungs and resulted in the latter death (from lung damage). I don't think a near drowning incident would go unnoticed, and now I guess I'll know that if (knock wood) something happens, I should keep a watchful eye on my child at least for the next day.

jen76 posted this story as well in a different group: They called it 'secondary drowning'. Something isn't adding up and there has to be more to this. Very scary- I am always feeling wiped after swimming. This was the child's first time swimming? How much water did he inhale? The white foamy stuff they said was at his mouth- could he have choked on his vomit or something. Too much to think about and worry over this summer- ugh. Thanks for posting this extra info.
