Premeire Week!

Let's talk about the new shows for Fall. :) Anything you're excited about? Anything disappointing? Anything worth watching again?

Yeah I'm digging The Event as the show progresses.

Loving Hawaii 5-0. Eye candy galore! Just watched the 3rd episode of the Event, it got way, way better this episode. Not so much Lost as it is "24" with a dash of aliens.

All my shows are doing good. I'm loving how Private Practice is turning out so far. Brothers and Sisters and Castle isn't sucking me in like it did last year. If only Booth and Bones would get together on Bones, I would be happy. I haven't seen Sister Wives, but people at work watch it. I'm hearing a lot about it. It sounds, um, interesting.
bluesarahlou bluesarahlou 3 years 49 weeks
Oh, and is anyone watching Sister Wives on TLC? :o
bluesarahlou bluesarahlou 3 years 49 weeks
So a few weeks have passed....updates? Any shows you gave up on? Any you love? Obviously Lone Star and My Generation failed.....which sucks since MG only got one episode, right? I'm really liking The Whole Truth, and Chase is still pretty good. Hawaii Five-0, LOVE. And Hellcats! I heard Outlaw might not last...which kinda sucks since I kinda love Jimmy Smits. :(

How much do you sleep per night Kim?

Grey's Anatomy, Brothers and Sisters, Castle, and Supernatural.

mrsld - I watched Lone Star last night and I'm also not sold on it. I feel like they didn't make Robert as endearing as they need to for that kind of character. I need to have a reason to like a crappy person/character on a TV show. I'm about halfway through My Generation right now and so far so good! I have a 1 TB portable hard drive full of shows that I bring to work - I have loud coworkers and need to drown them out :)

I am hoping she becomes more prominent, as well. I understand that it's just a pilot so they can't feature every character, so if she's featured more in the future (and I'm hoping she is), I'll give them a pass on not really featuring women in the first episode.
mrsld mrsld 3 years 51 weeks
Kim- I love Boardwalk too. I think that the woman (name escapes me) whose husband killed her unborn child is supposed to become a more prominent character. prominent? Predominant? Which is right????
mrsld mrsld 3 years 51 weeks
Wow. That's alot of TV. I am a big sleeper so that would not work for me. ;) I watched Lonestar. I am so-so with it. I think I will watch another episode and then decide.

Oh, and by the way, Boardwalk Empire is great. I mean, it's an HBO show, so I figured it wouldn't disappoint and I'm glad I figured right! The one thing that bothers me is the lack of even one substantive female character. It would not even come close to passing the Bechdel test! I understand that with the subject matter, the female characters might not fit in, but I am really hoping they start to feature the few women who were present a little more; I feel like there could be interesting stories there. And, the complex females have always been one of my favorite things about HBO shows. Even on The Sopranos, I found the women equally as interesting as the men. (Although, Boardwalk Empire is a Scorcese vehicle and lord knows he's not big on featuring women.)

And I swear I am not a loser who just sits around and watches tv every night! I'm just an insomniac who gets home late most nights and stays up watching tv until all hours. Eight hours of sleep a night is a strange concept to me. Sigh. I actually haven't watched any of the Thursday night shows yet since I got home extra late last night and went straight to bed. I am hoping my DVR properly recorded them! And I still haven't watched Glee. I had DVR issues, so I need to watch that one online.

As far as new shows, I'm watching Boardwalk Empire and The Event. (And I may catch Blue Bloods tonight.) There were some others I wanted to try, but a lot of them conflicted with shows I already watch. I swear, I need a second DVR! For example, on Monday's at 8:00, there are 4 different shows I want to watch! Four! I DVR'ed House and How I Met Your Mother and the second half of 90210. I watched the first half of 90210 online (but hooking up my computer to my tv is annoying) and I caught all of the good DWTS performances online. But, still. I wanted to watch Hellcats, too, but I feel like there are two other things on at that time that I watch. It's Wednesday at 9:00, right? Not that anyone really cares, but here's what I watch (or plan on watching): How I Met Your Mother, 90210, House, Gossip Girl, The Event, Castle, Glee, The Biggest Loser, Life Unexpected, The Good Wife, Parenthood, America's Next Top Model (yes, I am the only person over the age of 16 who still watches this show), Law & Order: SVU, Modern Family, The Defenders, Law & Order: LA, Survivor, Bones, 30 Rock, Grey's Anatomy, The Office, The Apprentice, Blue Bloods, The Amazing Race, Desperate Housewives, Brothers & Sisters, Boardwalk Empire. I wanted to try No Ordinary Family (My love for Michael Chiklis knows no bounds. I've loved him since The Commish.), Hellcats, The Whole Truth, and My Generation, but I could not fit them in to my schedule. Sigh.

Oh, I guess I'll list the shows I typically watch (even though they are old, Sarah). Sons of Anarchy, House, Big Bang Theory, Two and half men, and HIMYM.

Hmmm, I didn't even realize there were all these new shoes, I'm kind of overwhelmed. I had read a couple of things about Lone Star and wanted to check it out, but I forgot about it. If anyone watches it let me know how it was. I don't understand why they turned Sh!t My Dad Says into a series. The book is hilarious, though.
lildorothyparker lildorothyparker 3 years 51 weeks
Zeze - Pretty Little Liars is coming back in January Blue - It's like $#*! My Dad Says tried the funny/sentimental bit (similar to Parenthood) but it just didn't work. The acting wasn't that great either (especially from the guy who plays his son).
bluesarahlou bluesarahlou 3 years 51 weeks
Ooooooh I was wondering about Hawaii Five-0! I'll catch it on Hulu. I'm gonna give The Event a few more episodes....I agree that it was a bit shaky of a story. I wasn't planning on watching Shit My Dad Says....I heard it got really crappy reviews. Plus it seemed like a dumb concept. Undercovers was good? Maybe I'll catch that on Hulu too.....:ponder: I'm looking forward to My Generation and Outsourced.
zeze zeze 3 years 51 weeks
I'm not really a TV person, but I watched Hawaii Five-0 today and Alex O'loughlin = YUM. And the action with the pretty decent charisma from all the actors was fun. I'll watch on Hulu whenever I feel like TV. The Event is something I was looking forward to because the whole Lost connection got me and once I heard Blair Underwood is in it. It was so-so...kinda bad acting, too shaky of a story for the pilot...unlike Lost which started out with a simple concept and made sense the first episode and just built up to crazy things, the Event, like FlashForward jumps right into the confusing stuff and I think people will get lost and not bother... Old shows, I wish I could stomach Gossip Girl just for the clothes, but I can't, I tried the first episode - ugh. But I did like Pretty Little Liars in the summer, is it coming back? Oh and Cougartown is also on my Hulu when you're bored list - love the cast.

Old favourites: Cougar Town, Criminal Minds, Dexter, Glee, Gossip Girl, House, HIMYM, Lie to Me, Mad Men, Modern Family, Parenthood, TBBT, The Closer, and The Good Wife Like I said, premier week is like a second job. MY DVR series list: Gossip Girl, 90210, pretty little liars and Drop Dead Diva. (and now hellcats) MY husband mocks me relentlessly. Hello my name is mrsld,I am 37 years old and I am a teen drama addict.
bluesarahlou bluesarahlou 3 years 51 weeks
I missed Lonestar....was gonna catch it on Hulu. Apparently it got pretty low ratings though....so now I'm scared to commit! Glad I'm not the only one who likes cheezy teen shows....:rotfl:
mrsld mrsld 3 years 51 weeks
Sarah I watched Hellcats too! :true: and I even added it to my DVR series list! I have Lonestar saved. Did anyone watch it? Is it worth my time and DVR space?
bluesarahlou bluesarahlou 3 years 51 weeks
I don't care about the old shows, I'm talking new shows! :P
bluesarahlou bluesarahlou 3 years 51 weeks
I've watched.... The Whole Truth: loved it! (But I love Maura Tierney so I might be biased) Detroit 187: Pretty good...kinda funny...probably will watch again Raising Hope: Funnyish...a little Poor White Trashy, but ok Chase: Ok, probably watch again The Event: Oh yes! Hellcats: Don't judge me.
