Hey guys!
So, how's everyone doing? I've been doing quite well, but unfortunately, posting on the internet is not a full time job for me (crazy, right?), so while my few and far between reviews don't reflect it, I've actually nearly finished my list.
And I say "nearly" because it doesn't look like I'll be finishing it completely this year. It's my own fault- I added the foreign film category to give myself an extra challenge and it certainly worked out. I managed to see The Class, and still may see Waltz with Bashir on Sunday, but when it's all over I'll be missing 3 films from my list- all from the foreign category. I searched all over LA, but the only screenings of The Baader-Meinhof Complex, Departures, and Revanche were only open to Academy members.
Even still, apart from the foreign films, I managed to complete the rest of the list and even saw both sets of shorts. Some of my favorites this year include The Wrestler (obviously), The Reader, WALL-E, In Bruges, and Trouble the Water. I wish I'd been able to write individual reviews for them all.
Tomorrow I'll once again be attending the Best Picture Showcase at my local AMC theater. I'm looking forward to a day inside the theater viewing all 5 Best Picture nominees once more. Of the nominees, I'm really excited to see Slumdog and Milk again as it's been a few months for me for both of them. I'm also hoping that, like There Will Be Blood last year, a second viewing of Benjamin Button might help change my mind a bit about it.
On Sunday I'll be updating with as many category posts, predictions, and reviews as I can before the Oscars begin. And then it's all over! I can't believe another year has flown by already.
How are you doing this year? Any last minute cramming this weekend?
