REVIEW: Boscia Willow Bark Breakout Treatment

When I went on vacation last month, I decided not to pack my trusty Mario Badescu Drying Lotion . It was a gamble, but what were the chances I was even going to get a zit anyway...? Pretty good, apparently. :irK: I got a smallish blemish on my cheek and broke out the Boscia Willow Bark Breakout Treatment sample that I had packed, and it was gone the next morning. Sweet! I found my new holy grail, right!?!? Unfortunately, ladies, I'm just not that bright. I figured it was just a small zit and that didn't prove anything and maybe it was a total fluke anyway. So, the story continues...

About a week later, I woke up with one of those god awful, painful, omg how does that even fit on my face!?!? kind of blemishes making itself comfortable on my chin. Luckily, it was still at that ok, I know it's there and so do observant women, but everyone else is none the wiser stage. So, I headed down to Sephora and started browsing. I asked the saleslady who approached me for her recommendation. Now, if I were a very bright girl, I would have waited until a saleslady with clear skin was available. But, we've covered this ground already. So, she recommended Murad Acne Spot Treatment. I tossed it in the basket.

When I went to checkout, a very clear skinned salesgirl rang me up. She had an on-the-go tube of Boscia Willow Bark Breakout Treatment sitting by her register. She took one look at my chin and said, you should buy this. :rotfl: Luckily, I'm not that stupid and I did buy it.

But, still I went home and that night I put the Murad on. It was a sulfer treatment, that HAD to be better than some natural formula, right!?!? Wrong. My zit totally grew overnight! So, I started putting the Boscia on it that morning and it was pretty much gone by the next morning. *I* still knew it was there and dying, but it was no longer visible. I could wash the area and reapply the Boscia gel a couple of times during the day and then wear it overnight without it drying out or freaking my skin out at. all.

In conclusion,

x.) When it comes to skin products, don't listen to the Sephora saleslady that needs to see a dermatologist.

%.) Boscia is the bomb.

6.) Try to be bright.

Previously, I used soap and I would get breakouts occasionally. Then I tried Neutrogena which made me break out badly and I stopped using it after a week and went back to soap. Then I did some research online and decided to try Lady Soma's Antioxidant Berry mask and what a great purchase. Once per day, I have been using Lady Soma's Antioxidant Berry mask and it has been great to me. It has not only prevented breakouts, but it is also clearing out the little white heads that were on my forehead (I have oily skin) and blemishes. It's not a harsh product either and feels rather mild. I can see why everyone loves this mask!

It's always great to read a review when there's humor in it - thanks for the laugh Jennifer76!!! I've been wondering about this line. You'd think your skin would stay clear when you hit eerrr....after 30 plus something....but NO. UGH!

yeah, i really like tea tree oil, too. Great for canker sores as well.

I used Murad last summer and it did (slowly) kill zits that I already had. But MADE ME BREAK OUT MORE in places where I HAD NO SPOTS. And it made my skin dry and red and horrible. So I stopped using it. I'll definitely check out this Boscia stuff, I'm convinced that natural-ish remedies are better - tea tree oil has definitely been a miracle-worker for me.

Awesome review! I laughed and learned. I think you're wise to go to someone with clear skin. I'm the crazy person who asks people about their skin care regimens all of the time. (Sometimes it includes Botox and then I feel awkward for asking.)

LOL, I got two samples of this from Sephora, next time I get a zit I will remember to try it.

Thanks for posting this, in general I LOVE Boscia products. I use the eye cream and the scrub which are MARVELOUS. The oil-free spf 15 moisturizing lotion is great too, but I was sceptical of trying this - i guess i'm just jaded by all the other acne crap i've tried over the years - so thanks for the review i think i'm going to pick this up now.

This doesn't dry, CocoChic! That's one of the reasons I've been loving it. It "calms inflammation and reduces redness with the help of willow bark, jojoba leaf, soapberry peel, and vitamins C and E."

I think I have a sample of this too. I have really, really dry skin though so I try to stay away from anything that dries, even pimple stuff.

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: @ "Welcome aboard! Please don't stare at my chin." I have a sample of this stuff but have never used it - I'll definitely give it a whirl, now!

It's $15 for the smaller tube and $22.50 for the larger one. And, it's really cool, you just turn the dial on the bottom and a little blob of gel pops out the top. It feels more hygienic than a tube where some of what your finger touches gets sucked back in...

:rotfl: gotta love that numbering system! Girl! I had one of those monsters pop up yesterday and I am starting a 3 day trip this afternoon. Welcome aboard! Please don't stare at my chin :rotfl: okay I am seriously sold and desperate so I am sold. Can I get a price range please?

The spot treatment I use removes my spots in three days! I don't get spots much, so I'm not that gifted in the world of breakout treatment xD
jennifer76 jennifer76 8 years 3 weeks
Hope you guys love it as much as I've come to! :rotfl: Lelli! And it is very clearly a SPOT TREATMENT. Four weeks!? Gee, that's great. I hate those five week zits. :rotfl:

I shall be bright and invest in this! What amuses me is on the Murad website it says: Clinical Testing/Results:Clinically proven in over 90% of users to reduce blemishes in just four weeks. Unless i'm reading it wrong, it tells us that it removes spots in 'only 4 weeks'.

i am getting this because i am bright to wise wisdom. :medal:
