SS April Birthday Parties: Walk This Way
Happy Birthday to all my April sisters...and a very special Happy Birthday to binky who has given me the honor this month of arranging this celebration!!! I have arranged a one night and one day excursion to celebrate in San Antonio on the famous Rio Grande Riverwalk
...a meandering beauty that runs through the heart of this sparkling Texas jewel. Arriving in the evening, reservations have been made at the very stylish Hotel Contessa overlooking the river!!! We will toast this special getaway in traditional Old World style with a mixture of spanish and mediterranean cuisine on the terrace of the Las Ramblas restaurant. We will get up early to experience the beauty of the River Walk at its best, before it gets crowded. Stroll down to Schilo's for a filling German deli breakfast of eggs, bratwurst, biscuits, and coffee!!! Out on the river, beneath towering cypress trees...we hop aboard a river cruise for a narrated tour with Rio San Antonio Cruises. After the ride, we will step inside "Aztec On The River" to see a dazzling sound and light show that spotlights the movie "Palace" built in the style of a Mayan temple!!! In early afternoon,we will head over to La Villita. Shops and galleries fill the vintage buildings, where glassblowers and other artisans work. Wine racks, candleholders, sculptures and jewelry reproduced from finds at Monte Alban and other pre-Columbian ruins in Mexico or outfit yourself with a stylish Texas wardrobe, including handmade leather handbags, silver and turquoise jewelry, and other accessories at Angelita, owned by Jean Pace, from the family that originated the famed Pace Picante Sauce.
We will then catch one of the best sunsets in Texas from the 750-foot-high Tower of the Americas, and enjoy a memorable birthday dinner at the new "Eyes Over Texas" restaurant. The menu is loaded with fresh Texas specialties. I want to thank you for coming and want to wish you a big Texas welcome to this wonderful Tex-Mex beauty!!!
