Sephora returns?

Hey peeps! I just had a question for y'all--has anyone had experience with returning an item purchased at Sephora? I've never had to return anything (miraculously ;)), but I just received an order and some of the lip glosses I ordered are all weird and gloopy and look as if they've separated. I checked online and it says to return "unused" items, but...has anyone tried to return something "used", and if so, was it difficult? Would it be easier to return it at a Sephora store? Thanks!

I registered just to share my comment. I have never had a problem returning any item to any Sephora store I have visited: NYC - many there, Las Vegas, Portland, San Diego, Seattle, San Francisco but, in the city of Sacramento, the staff at the Arden Mall store are the rudest bunch of people I have ever encountered in a retail store! After my visit yesterday, when I returned an item purchased online with the intent to buy something else, was rudely told, "You can MAIL it back! There IS a label included in the box!" When I said that I wanted to visit the store and was looking for a product I saw at, the clerk said, "Just because it is online does not mean we carry it in the store." There was a sign right in front of me on the counter saying that their policy was to order an item for a customer if it was not in the store, but, hey, I had decided to not darken the door of that place again. I will take my business online or elsewhere! Sorry to be such a spoiler.

Sephora will return anything! I would suggest goign to the store though. I even returned Fredrick Fekkai glossign cream i have had for over a year and (since I cut my hair) it just wasn't working out anymore and they gave me a credit for it!

If going into a store is inconvenient- try their customer service first. I would just tell them there was a problem with the glosses and want a paid return slip. Just be direct-they have very good customer service.

I've returned used items. They don't get upset..and it's not that difficult. One of the girls that works there told me that they have to ask so that they don't restock the item. I'd return at the's easier for me. Plus, I don't have to pay for shipping to return the item. :)

I love Sephora! Second to Nordstrom, they have the best return policy in cosmetics!!!!

Just to reiterate what girls have already said I've returned partially used stuff, no receipt, 4 or 5 months later and never had an issue and the sales people are always nice, ask no questions, and gladly give a credit. PLUS if you look at the back of the receipts it does not say there is a 60day limit for returns (at least those items purchased directly from the store).

I've even had them take used things back past 60 days and gotten a full refund, not even just an exchange. They really are awesome.

HEY GUYS: This is cool to know....even if you don't have a recipt and have used the products, you can return to exchange ALWAYS. Sephora is like most places, if you don't like something and you have used it, you can return it and get your $ back (with recipt) or exchange for merch. credit or other product (w/o recipt). It's cool too cuz they are customer service oriented, so no counter lady will get all "biotchy" on you if you try to return, for fear of you calling cust. service on her. Haha, love it....I do it all the time and get new stuff!! Hope this helps! xoxoxox

They are great about returns. I've returned slightly used products several times with no problems.

Sephora stores will take a return if you bring the packing slip that came with your online order and it's within 60 days of purchase. Or you can return it by mail, if you don't have a store close by.

I have returned many things to Sephora and have never had a problem (even items I have opened/used), as long as I had the receipt/packing slip. I always return to a Sephora store. It seems that may be more prudent, in case they have a question about why you are returning it, or if you need to press the issue with a manager.
