Slow Cooker Chicken Divan

I've probably said this about a thousand times before and pretty much everyone who knows me is aware of this fact, but I feel the need to state it again:

I hate mayonnaise.

I hate the smell, the texture, the taste, absolutely everything about it. Usually people have to sneak it into my meals and not tell me just so I'll eat it. But as soon as they do, I'm just so disgusted by the fact that I've eaten it that I'll never touch that food again!

However, I love Chicken Divan. Most recipes, though, use mayonnaise. So what's a girl to do?

I came across a recipe in my Fix It And Forget It for Chicken Divan and it immediately sparked my interest and my taste buds.

Until I saw the dreaded mayonnaise. So I did what anyone else would do when they really want a particular meal but not a particular ingredient. I skipped it!

But for those of you who actually like mayonnaise, I'll include it in the list of ingredients here (much to my utter dismay. :))

Slow Cooker Chicken Divan

4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
2 10 3/4 oz cans of cream of chicken
1 cup mayonnaise ( - couldn't help myself!)
1 10 oz package frozen broccoli spears or chopped broccoli
curry powder to your taste

1. Spray the slow cooker with Pam or use a liner. (Believe me, everytime I forget this step, I regret it!)

2. Place chicken breasts on the bottom of the slow cooker.

3. Place the broccoli over the chicken.

4. Mix together the soups, mayonnaise, and any seasonings. Add to the slow cooker.

5. Cook on High for 4-5 hours. Serve plain, over noodles, with stuffing, or even add crushed potato chips to the top!

1. You can always do what I did and totally omit the mayonnaise. You could use plain yogurt, sour cream, or even another can of soup. Me? I just left it out completely. Too bad, mayo!

2. Add additional spices, veggies, or even cheese. I added a little crushed red pepper and garlic powder. Onion would go well in this dish too.

3. I added a little bit of chicken stock to it as well. Just a touch more chicken flavoring.

I'm planning to serve this tonight with some stuffing, so I'll let you know how well it goes over! :)

Yay, I'd go cannibal before mayo. Can't even stand the smell. Messes with my brain. I'm not sure if it tastes different without the mayo, but it was still really tasty! My husband likes mayo and the lack of it didn't bother him at all.

Does it taste different if you omit the mayo? I also HATE the stuff. Style Before Comfort!

lately I've been skipping out on all Mayo stuff too, I've replaced it with Organic Mustard, It's healiter and gives it a better flavor, also good for binding this together as mayo is commonly used for.. - Orchid23

Another great one!!! I actually LOVE mayo - like lick the spoon love it! haha ALSW, sorry if that grosses you out. A co-worker hates it so much she said if it came down to mayo or a person she'd totally go cannibal.

Liss - Hehe. Sadly enough, mayo isn't the only food I feel this way about. Cream cheese is up there too! :YUCK: ccsugar - I'm having it tonight, so I'll let you know. :) I think it's mostly used as a binder, to keep everything together, but I could freaking care less. No mayo!

I hate mayonnaise, but love Miracle Whip. I wonder what part the mayo actually plays, if it tasted good without it.

Yuck I hate mayo too!! And 1 CUP?!? That's a bit much!! ALSW, how did it taste when you totally omitted the mayo? That would totally cut down the fat and calories too, so I would definitely try it without the mayo...
