OK, I didn't come up with that name myself, that's just one of the myriad of names I've heard the upcoming storm called. I think Snowmageddon is the most popular, but it just doesn't have the same ring as Snowtorious B.I.G. (The December 19 storm was called Snowpocalypse by many.)
Anyway, I know I posted the last time there was a big storm, but I figured I'd post again. This storm is supposed to dump 20"-28" on D.C. by the time all is said and done. The big storm in December dumped around 18". (I've read different figures in different places, but that seems like a rough average.) And, the storm in December was supposed to be a "once-every-6-years-or-so" occurence. Clearly it wasn't!
So, I'm just wondering, who will be affected by the upcoming storm? And what have you done to prepare? I wasn't planning on doing anything to prepare. (Well, I did stock up on Diet Coke yesterday.) But, after seeing all of the panic around me, I'm a little nervous! What if I get snowed in for weeks? That will probably not happen, but still.
Anyway, back to my questions...Who's getting snow? How much are you supposed to get? Are you excited? Have you done anything to prepare? Do you get to leave work early today? Inquiring minds want to know!

Wow. My bff told me that they had 36 inches at noon... and it was still snowing. Insane. If this happen in MS, we would be at an absolute stand still. We wouldn't know how to handle it.

I don't live in a snowy area, so I really have no understanding of anything you ladies might experience. We're supposed to get buckets of rain this weekend though, so there's flash flooding warnings and danger of roads being blocked. Apparently we got the "Storm of the Year" while I was in Mexico. Gee, so NOT sorry I missed it! :D

the night we had our big snowstorm earlier this winter, i made the mistake of going grocery shopping. needless to say, i ended up putting everything back on the shelves and leaving. i went back in the middle of the storm the next day. much better. some crazy woman bought 7 gallons of milk that day. WTF?

I remember when I lived in NoVA and it would threaten to snow, just THREATEN and the line at the grocery store would be around the entire perimeter of the store back to the entrance! BOOO!!!! It only snowed once and it was 2 inches when i lived there!

Well I do my usual weekly grocery shopping on Thursdays during lunch, and yesterday the store was packed. I stood in line for about 25 minutes. Just stood there. Woo. But other than having groceries for the week, which is normal, we're just going to see how it goes. A new wine store opened around the corner and they sent an email saying put on snow boots tomorrow and have a wine and beer tasting Saturday night. So that will be fun if we can walk there (which I think we should be able to!).

We have maybe 3 inches of snow on the ground in Southern Ontario (at least my part of S.O.). This time last year we had between 3-4 feet and the snowbanks in my driveway were around 7-8 feet. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I miss snow. I want my d*** Canadian winter!

I hate when people don't clear the sidewalk in front of their house. The big storm in December that happened on Saturday into Sunday caused the schools to shut down for Monday, because most people didn't shovel their sidewalks. Apparently a majority of the students in our town walk to school and they didn't want them to have to walk in the street.

No snow for me, but I feel for those of you that are supposed to be getting the 'Big Snow'. Let me know how Dear John is lilkim. I hear it's supposed to be a stinker. :(

And most of the people in my neighborhood seem to be pretty responsible. Most of the owners shovel and/or ice the sidewalk right in front of their house.

No, I live in an English Basement and, luckily, the owners live upstairs (in the house), so they take care of everything. They already salted this morning.

And snarky, I'm the same way with my body temp. Yesterday it was around 38 or so and when I got outside I took off my gloves and hat (and considered taking off my coat) because it was "so warm."

I think I'm going to see Dear John, Martini. The movie theater is right across the street from my work, so I think I'll stay until about 1:45 or so. (I know, I'm so dedicated, putting in the extra 15 minutes.) Then I'm going to see the movie at 2:10. After that, I'm ordering pizza and staying in for the night (and maybe the weekend)!

hahaha it was 32 this morning and i had the air conditioning on in the car. heat wave!!! it's so funny how your body just gets used to a temperature, and once the temperature changes, it freaks out. (at least that's what my body does)

yeah, it's been great! I have only needed to wear a sweater and scarf all week when going outside! :) There is something to be said for a big, fresh snowfall, though - it is so beautiful and relaxing (as long as you don't have to go out in it!) So, what are you going to do with your early start to the weekend???

Wow, Martini, what a perfect temperature! It was oddly nice here yesterday and ever this morning. It was hovering right around 32 this morning, so just cold enough to snow. But, I don't think that's all that cold.

Wow, enjoy the early day, kim! :) We are not getting snow, it has been unseasonably warm here - 60 yesterday and it is supposed to be close to that again today!
