Spicy Kielbasa Soup

This recipe got some rave reviews on allrecipes and I'm planning to make it sometime this week, so I'll let you know what my take on it is as well.

Spicy Kielbasa Soup

READY IN 8 Hrs 15 Min

1/2 pound reduced-fat smoked turkey kielbasa, sliced
1 medium onion, chopped
1 medium green pepper, chopped
1 celery ribs with leaves, thinly sliced
4 garlic cloves, minced
2 (14.5 ounce) cans reduced sodium chicken broth
1 (15.5 ounce) can great northern beans, rinsed and drained
1 (14.5 ounce) can stewed tomatoes, cut up
1 small zucchini, sliced
1 medium carrot, shredded
1 tablespoon dried parsley flakes
1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
1/4 teaspoon pepper

In a nonstick skillet, cook kielbasa over medium heat until lightly browned. Add the onion, green pepper, celery and garlic. Cook and stir for 5 minutes or until vegetable are tender. Transfer to a slow cooker. Stir in the remaining ingredients. Cover and cook on low for 8-9 hours.

I don't think that turkey kielbasa tastes that much difference, especially in a soup with lots of ingredients like this. It tastes a little less smoky and might have a little less flavor, but it has less fat and calories too - it's a trade off. But one reviewer did say that she used regular kielbasa in this and it worked great!

I love Kielbasa, now I must try this, maybe this weekend. Does the turkey kielbasa taste any different than the regular kind?? I love all recipes too, recipeczar is also another great site. Thanks for this post, I'm loving all these crockpot meals, and so is the hubby ;) *Thank you. My real name... is plain... Jane Jones. (Alice - Closer)
