i'm beyond excited about this movie....maybe it's because i'm a romantic at heart and knows how much i'm gonna cry watching it,or maybe it's because i'm in a long distance relationship at the moment and sometimes i wished i could just blink and be in London in a second instead of flying there for 10hrs as usual...anyway i'm excited and can't wait for the movie...enjoy the pics
I worry about this movie. In my experience, relatively complex books do not do well as movies. As an example, I can think of Catch 22 or A Farewell to Arms. They were both excellent books but questionable movies that left one thinking "Huh?" I think short stories do well as movies, but generally novels do not, unless there's considerable straight-forward linear action. The TTW is not linear by any means.
I liked this book a great deal, even though I think it was about a hundred pages too long. I had to stop and think about some issues when I was reading it, often looking things up such as the paper making sections and some of the later biology experiments. It was definitely a complex book with lots of intricacies which I cannot help but think will be lost in the movie.
What I am afraid they will do is take the basic idea of the time travelling incidents and then run with it and make it soppily sweet and I think that's wrong: there is a certain amount of understanding, patience considerable pain and hardship and then finally resignation and acceptance which make up the flow of this book. The book is twisted and convoluted in a certain sense with lots of sidebars concerning biology, paper making, existential philosophy, relationships and more. How one can expect that in two hours just boggles the mind.
Still, I'm certainly not going to miss it for the world.
