UPDATE 2/8 - Which Anti-Aging line should I try first?

Hello, my fellow BPJs!

I have been fortunate enough to have gotten samples of two complete lines of anti-aging skincare! Guinot and MLab. Now, usually, when I get samples, I just try one here and there, but I have decided to do a grand experiment and to try an entire new line all at once!

That is where you all come in.....I need your help in deciding which line I should try and report back on first. Here are photos and details about what I have:

Included in this set were:

Intelligent Cell Renewal for Eyes
Fresh Radiance Exfoliating Peel-off Mask
Youth Renewing Skin Cream
Anti-Wrinkle Rich Night Cream (2)
Long Lasting Moisturizing Cream
Intelligent Cell Renewal Cream
Double Slimming Targeted Treatment

Included in this set were:

Anti-aging Cleanser
Anti-aging Blemish Control Cleanser
Anti-aging Toner
Anti-aging Day Treatment SPF 15
Anti-aging Treatment Cream (2)
Anti-aging Blemish Control Treatment
Anti-aging Eye Cream

So, now is the time to vote! Which one shall I use first? Remember, I am going to stop using my regular products and just use the entire line you choose until the samples run out and will then report back to you all about my experience!

UPDATE 2/8/09

Ok, I went to see my esthetician at Nordy's on Saturday to get a wax. I brought up the MLab and Guinot products to her. She raved about the Guinot products! She knew all about the company and said that she had been even talking to Nordy's about carrying their products...I guess it is something they are considering. She hadn't heard of MLab. I told her that their "hook" was that their products had more percentage of active ingredients than most, but she pointed out to me that that could just be more hype than substance. She said that, depending on what type of emulsion it is in, it could affect the effectiveness of the active ingredients. So, for example, putting a 75% AHA solution in a base of one type could reduce it's effectiveness down to a solution that is only the equivalent of, say, a 5% solution. (Does that make sense? She said it so much better than me! )
Also, she pointed out that what I am doing now is really working for me. She said to make sure that the line I was considering changing to had some of the same elements in the routine that I swear by now. I hadn't even thought about that!

Anyway, today I went to the spa that carries Guinot, and the esthetician there was really nice. She looked at my skin and guess that I was 10 years younger than I actually am! :-) (That certainly started my day off on a happy note! LOL! ) She let me play around with some of the Guinot products to feel the consistency, which I liked a lot. The only thing I am not pleased about with the line is that it doesn't seem to be heavy on the exfoliation side, which we all know I am slightly obsessed with! :P She pointed out that the samples would most likely last me about a week and that in that time, I would know for sure if it WASN'T working for me, but that I might need more product to try to see if the line was going to make an actual difference in my skin....

So there I am .... that is my update, as promised! Does it make anyone change their mind? What do you all think??

CC, I must check that out! Thank you for sharing it with us. :froggy: ML, Very interesting! I'm glad you and your esthetician had such a great talk. And it's awesome that the Guinot esthetician thought your skin looked 10 years younger! :woohoo: I'm saving this blog in my favorites. :)

I haven't heard of either of these lines, but I don't think that a week or two is long enough to see a difference either way....

:speedy: I'm sorry I'm late! I hope you're still looking. Well I chose the second one. I've never heard of either one though. Anyway, I made that choice because the first one doesn't show a cleanser! That is a very important step. You age 3 times (I've also heard 7! times) faster ever night you go to sleep without washing your face first! Otherwise they both seemed to have good stuff. Let us know how it's working! :)

I've heard of both, never used either one. But I'd go with Guinot. Mlab seems to have basic treatments.

Just popping in to say that I've heard the Guinot works--I haven't started using anything anti-aging yet, but my mom uses it and while she already has good genes (seriously, the woman is almost 60 and honestly doesn't look a day over 40--no wrinkles, no age spots, no nothing) she says the produts help. She also was using a lot of Lancome products before and was also really happy with the results. Good luck! :)

LOL, Sofi! Ok, I will do up a post about my usual routine just for you! Give me a few days to get some time to type it all up - it is fairly simple, really! Why am I looking? I just love trying new things! :rotfl: I am really interested in the estrogen cream that ccpdm mentions, too, now......that stuff sounds miraculous! I really appreciated her giving me that spiel about the active ingredients and what to look for - especially since MLab is soooooo expensive. Come back and give us an update on your research, I am really curious about what you will find out. You are so amazing at researching all of this stuff - I tend to be on the lazy side when it comes to researching!

Ok, forget about these samples because you must fess up about your usual routine?? Try the samples of Guinot, but I like the saying,"if it isn't broke, don't fix it"! Would you share your skin care routine with us? Is there something you aren't completely happy with and that's why you are looking for new stuff? Sorry, I am so skin care-obsessed lately, so just ignore me if it's too much info for you. Thanks for the info on the MLAb stuff. I'l try the stuff but would definitely look for more resesrch before I decide to pursue any products to purchase.

Never heard of either of these, but I'm intrigued to know what you think.. please post and tell us the results

let your body decide or: try both - on one side one and on the other side the other one... you will see how your skin approves... :)

The website is It's a bio-identical estrogen cream. It only takes a tiny bit (one jar will last me for several months). Great stuff!! ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ "A government big enough to give you everything you want, is strong enough to take everything you have." Thomas Jefferson

CC, tell me more about the estrogen cream and where you get it!!! Yeah, Sofi, I don't think the MLab will last a week if that....LOL! I am going to talk to my estitician at NOrdy's about both these lines today, I am going in to get a brow/bikini wax. I'll see if she knows anything about either line. Also, I go to see the spa estitician that carries Guinot tomorrow! I will report back! :-)
sofi sofi 7 years 16 weeks
Yeah, not sure you will get very long out of these samples. The MLab stuff probably wouldn't last more than a week.

Ooh fun, Martini! I chose MLab, for really no good reason at all. Today I bought a sample set of Korres Wild Rose at Sephora. It was $39, and has five different products. I have also used Kinerase samples, and that brand is fantastic, IMO. Except for being $115. CC, you must tell us about this estrogen cream!

Martini, Last summer I started using a small amount of estrogen cream (not prescription but recommended by my doctor) on the fine wrinkles around my mouth, eyes and forhead and am very, very happy with the results! I do not look like I am almost 52 years old. Jewelnut, you make a good point about needing 30 days to see a difference....I wonder if these little samples will last that long? I am thinking that they are more like one or maybe two weeks' supply at most! :? do you think I will still be able to tell something in that amount of time?
lazybones101 lazybones101 7 years 16 weeks
I like any product that says "anti-aging". Both lines sound great.

Wow, a naked face photo. You rock! Happiness is not, except in very rare cases, that drops into the mouth like a ripe fruit.Happiness must be,for most men and women,an achievement rather than a gift of the gods, and in this achievement, effort, both inward and outward, must play a great part.

Bella, it is never too early to start! ;-) BeachBarbie -whew! There is no way I would frighten all of you by showing you my scary bare naked face! :rotfl: But that is a great suggestion - I will definitely take a before photo! Sofi, I am going to the spa that carries them on Sunday to talk to one of the estiticians. I am going to take the sample package I got so that she can see all the products I am interested in. I will let you know what she says! :-)
bellaressa bellaressa 7 years 16 weeks
Tini, why do you need anti aging products? I don't think you need it. I've never heard of either line but from what I understand you would need about 30 days to see any noticeable difference if there will be any. Good luck and let us know how it turns out.
sofi sofi 7 years 16 weeks
I picked the Guinot. I also got the MLab stuff so we'll see that how that goes. Yeah, I need to find a time to use the whole line and not randomly. Good luck! Did you get more info from a spa (re:Guinot)?
BeachBarbie BeachBarbie 7 years 16 weeks
I chose the Guinot. Since it sparked my interest on another one of your blogs. I would also take a really close up picture of your face before using, so you can really tell the difference. (Please know I'm not asking you to share your close up bare nakey face with all of us...just for yourself for the best comparison reasons. :) )
Myst Myst 7 years 16 weeks
never heard of them. Let me know how they go though :D

I haven't heard of either, but chose mlab for the packaging...looking forward to your reviews!
