Ugh, I think we accidently jumped into a frying pan

The NWS put out this heat advisory for us, and it's supposed to be this way all week. Miserable!!! Is it fall yet? Please? :beg:

A COMBINATION OF HEAT AND HUMIDITY WILL RESULT IN HEAT INDEX VALUES OF 106 TO 110 DEGREES TODAY AND THURSDAY AFTERNOONS AS A HOT AND HUMID AIRMASS REMAINS OVER THE REGION. IN ADDITION... THE OVERNIGHT RECOVERY PERIOD FROM THE HEAT WILL BE LIMITED WITH MOST LOW TEMPERATURES NEAR OR ABOVE 75 DEGREES AGAIN THURSDAY MORNING.

I've never even heard of a heat index before.

well the power came back on for about a half hour but it just went off again :( and of course tomorrow the boys go back to school.

omg audrey!!! Being that hot can be dangerous!! There have been people at football practice at my nephews school who have been rushed to the hospital for heat exhaustion.
jennifer76 jennifer76 7 years 6 weeks

93 at 7:22 pm. Probably hotter on the pavement.

I know the heat index was 110 yesterday. The hubbin said it was 113 today. It's supposed to rain this evening and I REALLY HOPE IT DOES!! The humidity is supposedly only 70% right now, but I swear to god if it were any more humid, we could swim.

When I stepped outside this morning, my sunglasses fogged up like I was in a sauna. *Sigh* It sucks when it's stifling hot at 8:30 am! You just know that there's no hope for the rest of the day when it starts off like that. It's 98 with a heat index of 103 today. :oy: Luckily, the rest of the 10-day forecast has highs in the 80's. I can't wait for summer to be over!

damn aud! I guess everyone running their AC all the time over loads the systems. Thank god your power came back on!
colormesticky colormesticky 7 years 6 weeks
*thanking my lucky stars* Wow, guys. Even Death Valley is only 105 today, and when I think hot that's what I picture.

well i just had to get back on here and tell you all that it is so hot here a transformer blew at the end our neighborhood. we were sitting in the living room when we heard a boom, the power went out and i saw smoke at the end of the road. luckily our power has come back on or i wouldn't know what we would do. Todays High is 102 degress with a heat index of 108. The hottest temperature ever recorded in Louisville was 107. this is insane.
colormesticky colormesticky 7 years 6 weeks
Holy crap, sasha! That's insane. That's worse than Arizona!
sashak sashak 7 years 6 weeks
holy crap! Just heard the weather on the radio & with the heat index (blah, blah, blah) it was 119!!!!!

SC has been in a drought for a few years now. We had a TON of rain last week (damn, was it last week?) which was really awesome, but the ground is so dry that it didn't absorb all the water. ggrrr. What kills me is folks who have their sprinklers on timers & they go off right after it rains or even while its raining!!

We are Sticky; they are calling for a chance of thunderstorms tomorrow and Friday but we'll see if it really happens.

I know in GA at the beginning of the summer, we had droughts. Now....it's not quite THAT bad, but I can see it getting back to those levels.
colormesticky colormesticky 7 years 6 weeks
Are you guys having draughts or anything to go with the heat?
audreystar audreystar 7 years 6 weeks

Summer cannot be over soon enough as far as I am concerned....I don't like all these record breaking temps in the Dirrty South this week.
jennifer76 jennifer76 7 years 6 weeks
It's been crazy here this past week, too! I keep being SURE a thunderstorm MUST be coming tonight with sweet, sweet rain and I keep being totally wrong. Blech. And, of course, our A/C in our car conked out the other day. Double blech.

I know, you guys and your horrid weather have been on the Weather Channel here. It was incredibly humid here last week, but now that that's tapered off it's nice. I HATE hot weather, so this is usually the time of year I'm glad I live where I do. The rest of the year when it's still 70 and partly cloudy, I'm wishing I was in Oregon so I could get rained on. One thing about this place- no seasons. Stuff stops blooming, but the weather isn't that different. It's just foggier in the morning.
TNgirl TNgirl 7 years 6 weeks
:raspberry: Sticky we are all in a miserable heat wave and you have comfortable temps. I have even decided to skip lunch today so I don't have to go out in this miserable heat; I swear you break a sweat immediately when you step outside.

I don't know that it's desert by the beach, but it sure is when you go inland. Poor t0xxic's gonna roast today.
