Buh-Bye, Gym! Tips For Transitioning From the Treadmill to the Road

What's Your Average Treadmill Speed?

It's nearing the end of a long Winter, and chances are high that you've been logging some indoor miles on the treadmill. Lately, I've been rocking a negative split run on the machine. This keeps me upping the speed of the treadmill as my workout moves along, but my average speed is 6.3 miles per hour. I know for some that this might feel like a snail's pace, but for others a wee bit fast — to each her own speed. When you're on the treadmill what's your average pace? Feel free to check this speed conversion chart if you need a little guidance.

The longer I want to go the slower I have to be! it's usually a 6mph if I'm going 3+ miles.. but more like a 6.5-7 if it's less.

I feel like a slug. I walk at 4.0, but jog/run 5.5, or 5.8 on a good day.

I thought I was slow for going 6.5 to 7. I guess its because I'm military and everyone's faster than me.

I tend to use the treadmill for walking so it's more like 3-3.5 But if I just it's at 5.0

I always do intervals (alternating between a 6.5 run and a 4.0 walk). According to the treadmill display, my average is around 5.2. 6.5 is definitely a "wee bit fast" for me, but now that I've been jogging at that pace for a few weeks its been more comfortable, so I may boost it up a little bit :)
