I hate it when your just looking at the makeup and then staff come up to you and say 'DO YOU NEED ANYTHING?' Ugh, thats annoying! And I also hate it when they come up to you and spray perfume all over you - especially when its not particually nice smelling perfume!
I just remembered, last year I was in Lord and Taylor in the handbag section and a saleslady began folowwing me CLOSELY behind everywhere, to the point that I was just dawdling extra to try to lose her. She thought I was trying to steal something I think!!! :oy: That was a first. Really pissed me off. :mob:
Yeah swwonder, I kinda think MAC is a little to encouraging of bitchy, hoity-toity sales staff. The last time I bought something was like a year and a half ago, only because I was in Arizona and didn't know whether I hated the person I was buying it from and was desperate for a new pot of Shroom. The Clinique counter is right across from the MAC counter here, and I have to say. The people at Clinique are fifty times nicer and every bit as knowledgeable.
i dun like ignorant staff, and also staff who ignore you when you obviously need something!!! kind of like snobbish.
and i dun like nasty testers, melted glosses and lipsticks or powders look cakey... really horrid.
and i dun like over-eager sales staff who keep pushing stuff to you so you end up spending over budget just to get a tiny bag of freebies you prolly wun need.
Not just pushy but also ignorant sales people are the deadliest combo. If I know more about the products than you, and it's your job, then stop pestering me AND don't be bitchy about it!!!

Did you ever see the scene in the movie "The Other Sister" where Juliette Lewis' character, Carla, goes in and gets a beauty counter makeover, but they only do HALF her face - and then they tell her she has to buy the other half - so she's walking around the mall, ducking behind things to try to hide at least half her face at a time?! :rotfl:
HORROR STORY: I was in Neiman's with my mother, and as we're going past the beauty counters she got sucked in. In the meantime I'm trying on clothes. Half an hour later, I can't find mom...she's still there with the women. I walked over to grab her away, and one of them grabs me instead! It was one of those thick eye creams that is supposed to "freeze" your wrinkles and de-puff your eyes. She applied it to one of my eyes before I could even BLINK! I grabbed my mother and took off, horrified that one eye was going to be smaller than the other for the rest of the shopping trip!
i went to a clinque counter a few years back to get a red lipstick that would work with my pale skin, and the lady put on a "true red", with my mini makeover. and her smokey eye was all blues... so there i am, red hair brown eyes, with crayon red lipstick and big blue eyeshadowed eyes... ugh. then she started ringing it up as i looked inthe mirror, like i would want ot be seen like that. oh it was horrible i never tried anything from the brand because of that lady. ugh salespeople!
i'd say pushy sales people. i just like to look sometimes, and i don't wear makeup everyday. i hate being told "oh, you would look so pretty if you just wore A, X and B." like i was hideous before...
Me too, Aud! Snooty sales staff are the worst! I can shut down pushy people, but I can't stand the ones who act like Well, I may have nothing else to do, but it's still a GIANT inconvenience for me to help yoooooooooou. :oy:
its a toss up between having an older lady try to help me or the arrogance of the workers. it seems whenever i go i don't have a problem of pushiness but rather making someone help me and not look at me like i am the hunchback from notre dame.
