We all hear that celebs are paying and booking an appointment to have their babies via cesarean. What do you believe to be better?

My poll question will be how would you prefer to have your baby or how did you have your baby? But this is up for discussion.

Whatever happens, but I pray I'll have drugs when the time comes. As long as the baby is healthy and happy that's all that will matter to us in the end.

Don't worry, you're not scaring me just yet. My mother's story of delivering my sister did that for me long ago. Whatever way I end up having children, I just want them to be healthy! I just hope to have a healthy pregnancy too - I've known a lot of women on bedrest and that scares me too.

I did!!! I totally loved the whole feeling of pregnancy. I even loved the way I looked.

I loved the labor part, the pregnancy part was the rough part for me. Unlike you Susie who loved being pregnant, I didn't like feeling so limited, but labor was always the exciting part for me, I loved going to the hospital and being in labor. *Thank you. It used to scare me too. With every pregnancy I feared labor. LOL You'd think after five kids I would've known what to expect with the next, and I was still scared. LOL

LOL, yeah it is scary but I appreciate the advice. I like to know what I have a head when I have children. The whole process scares me to death, it always has.

Haha, I was reading back over our stories and we're probably scaring the daylights out of Kiwi and ALSW!!! Don't worry, in the end, it's all worth it, every bit of it. :)

I wanted to have my 1st one natural but they (hospital) talked me into getting an epidural because the anesthesiologist was leaving (it was a holiday) and would not be back if I ended wanting one so even though I was doing great I let them give me an epidural. Wished I had never done that. Too long of a story but I swore if I had another one I would never have it again. With my second child I had her completely naturally and the delivery was fast and easy. granted I prayed everyday (literally) that God would allow me to have my second child with no drugs and be pain free. I never knew I was in labor until the baby was coming out. Point is I say not to drugs or C-section (unless you have no choice). I believe in prayer and having them completely natural.

Okay here is my experience and y'all can decide what you think. I say whatever happens happens. You can never really plan what's going to happen when delivery time comes. All the plans you make can go out the window in an instant. I have five children, as my sister, JPJ (Sandy) stated above. My first and my last were born after being induced and being given Demerol and an Epidural. Those were by far, the worst labors I have had. Which makes me sad because they were my first and my last, and I wish they were better experiences. With my first I ended up vomiting because of the Demerol, then after 17 1/2 hours of labor and it was time to push, because the Epidural seemed to work so well for me, I couldn't feel anything below the waist enough to push him out, which led to the use of Forceps and Vacuum Extraction, both scared the Heck out of me!!!! Then my oldest was born very sleepy which made it difficult to nurse him. So in turn He ended up losing too much weight. Not to mention the fact that I felt as if I hadn't participated at all in my labor. It was horrible. And Lamaze didn't help one bit. When I was pregnant with my second one, I took The Bradley Method, childbirth classes. Which I highly recommend. Anyway, my labor was quick and easy. IT was painful, yes, but felt so alive. I was able to participate so much. Minutes after he was born I was able to get up and walk to my room from the delivery room, and go see my baby in the nursery. He was very alert, in fact he was lying on his tummy holding his head up at only minutes old (my labor lasted 6 1/2 hrs). My third son the labor was the same 5 hrs long, very quick and I was able to walk around after. I did experience some blood loss which made me pass out, but other than that I was totally fine. My daughter was born after 3 hrs flat. I felt wonderful, got to hear her cry and feel everything. I even knew when I was crowning. It was a wonderful experience. With my last son, because I had my labors so fast, my doctor decided to induce me before my due date (because I had group B strep and he didn't want me to risk giving birth at home, because group B strep can be fatal to the baby). Now my labor was 12 hrs long with him and extremely painful, so I asked for an Epidural. Big mistake! It took affect too well again and again I couldn't feel enough to push correctly. So his heart rate kept dropping. They threatened to give me a c-section, which I didn't want at all. When I finally got him out, because of the stress of labor and probably cord compression, he lost all color and had to be put in intensive care. He stood in the hospital for three days. Very Scary!!! I don't suggest having a c-section unless you absolutely have to. Especially if you plan on breastfeeding. You uterus contracts when you nurse and it hurts, like bad cramps. I can only imagine how much worse it would be if you get those contractions after your Uterus has been stitched from a c-section . So thins is my long story :ROTFL: Sorry,but I hope my experience helps in your decision making.

Good advice ladies! Books - that was my mom's advice exactly! I'm not sure how high my pain tolerance is, so I think that the drugs would come in handy. :) Jane - You all are lucky to have such big and loving families! My family seems big and is very loving, but the majority seem to have 2 kids and stop. I guess that's the norm these days. I keep telling John that I want to give his mother an even 8 grandkids (3 from his oldest brother, 2 from his middle brother, 3 from us!) and he gets this look on his face like I'm nuts. :) All I can say is that I want babies one at a time! (And my odds are a little against that...)

This mommy's advice is to get the epidural. :) Initially I wanted to deliver vaginally without drugs but about 2 hours into labor, I wanted the damn drugs! I had to be induced and whatever they gave me caused my contractions to come back to back to back, instead of being spaced out and then getting closer and closer together. Once I got the epidural, I was in heaven. It was awesome. But I ended up having to have a c-section anyway so they like tripled my epidural dose and it made me shake so bad. Seriously, it was like having a seizure. They lay you down and put a sheet wall up at your chest so you can't see anything. I watched Mr. Books' eyes bug out until I heard the baby crying. Didn't feel a thing. Then I had to lay there and wait for them to bring me my baby and that part sucked because I couldn't see anything and the baby was crying, I didn't know what was going on really and it seemed to take FOREVER to see my baby. But after that, let me correct myself from earlier, NOW I was in heaven. :) The second time around I tried to talk my doctor into trying to deliver vaginally this time but he said since there were complications the first time, it would probably be the same this time around plus it was a boy now who might be even bigger. So I went ahead and just scheduled a c-section again.

My brother has 2 kids (boys ages 5 and 7) My sister has 5 kids (boy 18 next month, boy 15, boy 14, girl 12 next month, boy 9) Mine are girl 10 next month, boy 6, and boy 3 next month. I truly believe in whatever happens happens, whatever gets the baby delivered safely. Some people are so adamant about not having a c-section, but labor is very stressful on a baby. I had all 3 vaginally (I don't like the tern 'naturally' b/c naturally is giving birth imo) and I also had 3 wonderful epidurals ;) Some people have had bad experiences w/them, but every single one I had was very helpful. I got them once I was 6 cm dilated, and although I didn't feel the pain, I was very much aware of the pressure, and the need to push. I could even feel my legs, and knew once my water had broke, I just didn't feel the pain. It was a great experience, I was blessed to have amazing drs and nurses. Now my sister has had 5 kids vaginally, w/no drugs, the thought of that makes me want to pass out :) She was there when I had my first, which was a really funny experience b/c they gave me Demerol which made me horribly sick to my stomach, and I felt like I was watching an episode of ER. I totally had the feeling of not being in my body, and watching myself go through labor, thankfully it was out of my system by the time I was set to deliver (13 hrs of laboring, but delivery took 3 pushes and she was out). My cousin's wife is having one next week - I'm not sure why. But I thought it was interesting that I told my husband that and he was so non-chalant about it. I guess it's getting commonplace these days!

I don't know why my Grandmother did.. My Mom did because my sister wasn't in a good postition, I don't remember the exact reason. My Sister did because her son wouldn't turn around... they kept trying to turn him around but he wouldn't budge. They finally just did the c-section. I think my Dad's mom had natural...so I dunno!

Really? Most of my family had natural births and my mother told me to ask for the drugs! Is there a particular reason your family has so many C-sections? And my mother also told me that no matter how hard and painful the delivery, the end is worth it!

Since the majority of my family had c-sections, I am more into that... but I really don't know. The whole birth part scares me LOL!

I always see these discussions over on Celebrity Baby Blog and some of them get angry! My preferred method would be vaginally with some drugs. Heidi likes the drugs. But I also believe that if it comes down to it, whatever my doctor suggests. If I had to go C-section, I would, especially if it's for safety reasons, baby or me.
