Don't look here if you don't like hunting or seeing dead animals. The first picture is just an elk eating. Not a picture that will offend anyone. We're a hunting family and these are only a few pictures. We rely mostly on our hunting to fill our freezer. We also cut up and package most of the meat ourselves. What we do take to get processed is meat for sausage. We fill our freezer with fish too but this is just hunting stuff for now.
My Mother used to go squirel, quail and rabbit hunting with her Father and Brothers and then her husband. My husband is the hunter in this family followed by our 2 boys. He tried to get me to cut a deers throat with a dull knife because it was not clear dead. That was the end of my hunting. I just cried the whole time. Talk about a whimp but I am used to the hunting. We make our own summer sausage with the deer meat and high fat hamburger. Turns out pretty good. Deer steak is great! Have been morel mushrooming here. Not finding too many.
Ahh, that's a sweet touching story. You know, my husband proposed to me in the field where we had OUR first hunt together.
Every time we go blue grouse hunting, my husband talks about when he used to hunt blue grouse around this patch of wild raspberries (I know this story by heart now). When he dressed them, the smell that would come up at him was berries, NOT bird insides. And they tasted sooo gooood.
My all time favorite is ruffed grouse. If there is a heaven it will look like New Hampshire in the first two weeks of October, and the woodcock flights would be in, the grouse thick, a 20 gauge over/under, and the best damned brittany that ever lived, as your own personal dog. :halo:
Grampa, Thank you. :) However, I am better with a shotgun. My daughter is actually better than me with a rifle. My effective range to hit the vital area with a rifle was only 50 yards. He was a fast, clean kill.
What dogs? There are no dogs in the pictures. Big game hunting with dogs is only legal in the south. I'm not from the south. And Hilary can afford to buy her own dog.
Our dogs in my pets area, retrieve waterfowl and birds (but not turkeys).
Crazy! Since women were allowed to think for themselves. People found it reasonable for them to provide for themselves and their families too. B-T-W our dogs track and retrieve our husbands. :)
There is a season for women, what is this world comming to? Can you use dogs to track, and retrieve? How about a seperate season for archery, maybe around Valentines day. j/k :ROTFL:
