Is there a product that helps fade sun damage spots?

I want to help my mom's skin. She was born in Vietnam and the sun there is very harsh. Her face has alot of brown spots where there was sun damage. A few years back, she was ill advised to seek treatment from a cosmetologist who did some sort of treatment that made it worse. I understand this may not be reversible, but is there a product that could help fade some of the brown spots. I would really love to help her. I know the condition of her skin upsets her more than she lets on and I think she would love to feel more beautiful.
